Unleash Destruction with Fortnite's Shockwave Hammer!
2022-12-13
Launched in Chapter 4 of Fortnite, the Shockwave Hammer showed gamers the extent of its power and destruction. Thanks to the game's upgraded graphics with Unreal 5.1, the players were able to leverage the full potential of this item. They've taken to testing just how masterful its use can be.
First seen in the launch trailer for Fortnite Chapter 4, the Shockwave Hammer is an incredible weapon that can be used to dish out 75 damage, as well as to get away from fights! This weapon can be found in chests, capture points, and just lying around. To use it effectively, hit another player with it to fling them away, or slam it on the ground to propel you away from the action.
In a now-viral clip posted on the Fortnite subreddit, player MonstercatDavid could be seen trying to take out a car using the Shockwave Hammer. Despite their best efforts, the car took multiple whacks from the weapon before it finally exploded in a big bang. The explosion took out MonstercatDavid too, causing them to die from fall damage and finish in ninth place in the popular Battle Royale.
The amusing video earned favorable feedback from other Fortnite gamers, acknowledging MonstercatDavid as "committed" for using the hammer. One noted that fall harm is evadable if gamers use the hammer before impacting the ground. Interestingly, some people appear to have been influenced to take on a "hammer only" trial for Fortnite Chapter 4. Although, players should proceed with caution in order to not be eliminated because of the Shockwave Hammer.
Since the Shockwave Hammer was unveiled, the response from Fortnite fans has been somewhat divided. Many view the weapon favorably as it can potentially deal a large amount of damage; this is especially true if repeated hits land. Furthermore, it can be helpful in enabling players to keep up with fast-moving vehicles such as dirt bikes or cars. You'll often find players sharing clips of their triumphs after successfully deploying the item.
Some players, however, feel otherwise, without giving any indication as to whether they were the targets or wielders of the hammer. A few went as far as to suggest it should not be allowed in competitive tournaments, believing it might create an unfair advantage for some.
