Meta is still recovering from the recent Apple privacy updates on iOS. The update allowed many security-concerned users to prohibit data tracking completely, which made it a lot harder for Meta to gather and share user behavior insights with marketers. Meta is criticizing Apple for the change and wants a change.

It Hurts!

Even though Facebook is one of the largest companies in the world, a $10-billion fall in ad sales earnings is still huge damage. Meta confirmed that its earnings will fall by this amount by the end of 2022 due to Apple’s new policies alone. Meta is hoping to minimize the consequences until it’s too late and is launching an ad campaign that aims to publicly criticize Apple once again and to persuade small businesses to keep using Facebook and Instagram advertising opportunities.

The video ad campaign has the motto ‘Good Ideas Deserve To Be Found’ and it’s trying to assure users of the true value of personalized ads for the small business sector. Meta emphasizes that personalized ads can match businesses with the most excited customers.

Besides, Meta wants to persuade users to stop disabling data tracking while using Meta’s apps. Hopefully, this will help Meta reduce the number of users who toggle the switch to the “don’t track me” position, but it’s not likely to return any of those users, who’ve already done that.

Better Than Doing Nothing

Even though the chances to recover from damage are quite low, it’s fair to admit that doing something is better than just watching how Meta’s ad ship sinks on iOS. The times for small businesses and even developers are already difficult, so stopping the avalanche is a good solution. What do you think about Apple’s iOS 14 privacy update and Meta’s efforts to stop users from hiding themselves off the ad radar? Express your opinion in the comments and share this piece on Facebook so that more people could support Facebook.
